Buy Transformers |
No matter where you turn, anywhere there is a need for power - Rural or city - When you need power you need to buy transformers.
Guidelines on Selecting a Transformer
Selecting the right transformer can be a
daunting task. We provide the knowledge of choosing these
transformer at its most fundamental level.

Offering a large selection
of Quality, Energy Saving Transformers.

A K-Factor Transformers are designed to deal with harmonic generating loads. The most common places you find the use of K-Factor Transformers is in computer rooms, office buildings, and in factory automation because of the high harmonic these equipment generated.
Harmonics causes excess heat and cause normal voltage transformers to overheat, which reduces the life of the transformer. K-Factor Transformers are designed to handle this additional heat. A K-factor transformer is designed by using a double sized neutral conductor and either change the geometry of their conductors or use more than one conductors for the coils. A quality K-factor transformers are made with high grade silicon steel, more air ducts and copper winding.
The
K-factor is a value given to determine how much current a
transformer can handle without exceeding it's maximum temperature
level. Underwriters Laboratories or UL has set up a rating system on
the ability to handle loads which generate harmonic currents.
K-factors of 4,9,13,20,30,40 and 50. Typically a K-13 rated
transformer is sufficient for most applications. A K-Factor
Transformer with a rating of 50 is used for the worst harmonic
condition possible.
In the last 10 years we have seen a dramatic growth in non-linear equipment. These devices only demand current during part of the cycle or change their impedance during the voltage cycle. With this type of load it creates harmonic currents, and causes heat in the distribution equipment. Examples of non-linear equipment is fax machines, copiers, computers, video display terminals, UPS systems, and medical electronic monitors systems.
